As the most common Gram-negative pathogen in humans, antibiotic resistance in E.coli attracts particular concern. E. coli strains are classified into seven pathogenic types. Among them, typical EnteroHaemorrhagic E.coli (EHEC) strains to produce Shiga-like toxins making them the most virulent diarrhoeagenic E. coli known to date.
