AfroEcology/TheLand Black, Future Farming & Research Network Ch 888

Farming TheLand, documenting with project journals and photos, deliberately ignoring traditional scientific methodology to listen to Earth. This relational approach aims to create something helpful and radically counter to extractive science.
Description

Goals

>Relational Data Gathering<
Emphasizing the relationship between observer and observed.

>Dynamic Understanding<
To create an evolving understanding of the project's subject matter.
To allow for changes in direction and learning as the project progresses.

>Relational Methodology<
To develop a methodology that integrates diverse data sources.
To create a more complete and accurate understanding of the subject matter.

>Challenging Paradigms<
To produce work that offers an alternative to traditional scientific practices.
To contribute to a more sustainable and ethical approach to knowledge creation.

>Documenting Experiences<
Using project journal entries and photos to record observations and experiences.
To provide a detailed and personal account of the project.

>Earth-Centered Listening<
Paying close attention to the natural environment and incorporating its feedback into the project,
to respect and learn from TheLand

>Iterative Observational Analysis<
Continuously analyzing and reflecting on the data collected, and adjusting the project as needed.
Allowing for more flexibility and adaptation throughout the project.

>Relational Data Gathering<
Using diverse data sources, including qualitative insights, and community knowledge.
For creating a more complete understanding of Farming and Community development.

Researcher background
I am a Black/Afro farmer from Portland, Oregon, with a lifelong fascination for science. From childhood, I've been drawn to the natural world, finding wonder in soil, insects, plants, and the interconnectedness of all living things. My early awareness of environmental fragility ignited a deep-seated desire to protect and restore. Now, as a recovering addict, I attribute my survival to the profound relational connection I have with my family and the land. My great-great-grandfather was a Civil War veteran and a farmer, instilling a deep connection to the land that resonates through my lineage.

My research approach challenges traditional extractive scientific methodologies. I employ a form of oppositional defiance, using research, nonlinear cross-examination of conventional narratives, and a capacity for vivid, waking-state ideation. This is supported by a unique cognitive style, characterized by rapid problem-solving through heuristics, pattern recognition, intuitive reasoning (System 1 thinking), affective heuristics, and an awareness of potential cognitive biases. While effective, this approach can sometimes be perceived as reckless.

My understanding of these cognitive processes is deeply informed by my upbringing. I was raised by my mother, a powerful and influential figure in my life, whose presence extends beyond the limitations of conventional space-time. She intentionally named me so that I would be able to safely orient myself in space-time until I received my body back, just in time to help on the front lines of a quantum entangled war of realities, against abyssal colonial dialectical theological ignorance. I believe her intelligence and influence are pervasive, shaping my perspective and guiding my work. This project is driven by my commitment to exploring alternative, relational approaches to understanding and interacting with the natural world, drawing from both lived experience and a deep respect for the interconnectedness of all things.
Are you seeking volunteer growers or other types of volunteers?
Yes, seeking volunteer growers
How many volunteers do you need?
72
What will you ask volunteers to do?
Lets share information, ideas, thoughts and abstracts or feel free to just ask me vague or very specific questions about my experiments, projects, experience referance data, photos ECT. conduct your very own unorthodox farming processes and share them on this project page by being a volunteer.
Other requirements of volunteers?
The only requirement is to have fun, grow food, share what is feel comfortable and what you have capacity for. express yourself and what you feel, remeber that you have the right to change your mind, disagree, agree and not even bother. Lets process farm and remeber Truelove is seeds sowed underneath so roots can weave and braid a tract where we will all can breath.
Is this a multi-year project?
Yes
Can volunteers expect to be able to keep some germplasm (seeds, bulbs, cuttings, spores, etc) at the close of the project?
Yes, of course
Anything else?
