Invitation to deploy your invention on our land remote or onsite: Food, Farming, Energy, Waste to Value

Climate smart inventors wanted: Our focus is to build out a bioregional awareness landscape focused on experiments in food, farming, energy, waste to value and architecture. We welcome inventors to our farm to deploy their projects, stay and experiment. Our team of experience researchers will tend the explorations if the inventors prefer to be remote or they can stay on the land. We also have plans to create a prototype park where the public and investors can come to view the residential scale inventions to learn and become a node themselves in direct response to climate responsive behavior change needs. We will set up a zoom call to share more details to help you draft a protocol and plans our site manager will review. For our first cohort we hope to have inventions in each category: Food, Farming, Energy, Architecture, Waste to Value. Each inventor will work collaboratively to help other inventors work in a synergistic system. Our site manager will be curating the cohorts in order to maximize impact. Description

We will be facilitating the experience for principal investigators with mid stage projects. Our research team on location will help develop a robust research protocol with opportunities for iterative actions and pivots in response to the needs of the invention. We can provide our soil and water test. We have two streams, a pond, large barn, wood shop, small residential size greenhouse, tools and a wetland as part of the context. Our plan for early 2023 is to establish a hoop house, bathhouse, mushroom cultivation area and biochar demonstration site. We are also researching mediation techniques of canary grass and a few other invasives. Along with salmon and general habitat restoration planning. We have been here for 2 months.

Researcher background
My co-director and I have experience designing and executing research programs focused on new businesses and services. We met at Rutgers over a decade ago both focused on social impact and documentary creation. Nicole moved on to focus on landscape architecture at Berkeley and has expertise in biofuel and waste to value solutions. Nicole also has a composting toilet company Nature Commode available for sale! She now works as a service designer. Melissa is a design researcher with past projects focused on financial stability for coffee farmers, off grid solar and now sees the urgent need to build out bioregional opportunities to support regenerative practices. Both Melissa and Nicole now want to support experts in the food, farming, energy and architecture realms so they can view their inventions in a system.
Are you seeking volunteer growers or other types of volunteers?
Yes, seeking volunteer growers
How many volunteers do you need?
5
Other requirements of volunteers?
We provide housing if needed or space for an RV in exchange we would like folks to contribute to the communal monthly costs (flexible on this) also if you are deploying your invention but are not on site we can discuss an exchange that makes sense. We are developing this program now and open to feedback or suggestions.
Is this a multi-year project?
Yes
Can volunteers expect to be able to keep some germplasm (seeds, bulbs, cuttings, spores, etc) at the close of the project?
Yes, of course
