As the climate warms in Alaska, my wife and I are working to aclimate produce and other etables to this northern region. Fifteen years ago the Kenai peninsula was a zone 3. Now a zone 4 many good foods grow here and choices continue to expand.
Favorite Crops & Least Favorite Crops
I enjoy growing exotic potatoes and hard neck garlic, corn still only grows in a cold frame.
Small lot (101 - 400 sq. ft)
The soil five years ago was raw Alaskan forrest. Highly acidic hardpan. A combination of sweet lime, and compost made from horse manure and brewery waste has improved the soil quality.

I am on the edge of a wilderness in Alaska. The nearest frm to me is about three miles north. This nursery is about as gmo free as they come. Farms in Alaska are small but the agricultural comunity is growing. Many people like to be gmo and chemical free.
